Program Description
Learn how positions and movement, breath and vocalization, touch and massage, relaxation, visualization, and meditation can support the process of labor and delivery and be effective pain coping tools. Learn about the essentials of labor support and use this knowledge to help partners prepare to support a laboring women. This course prepares teachers to teach a labor preparation workshop for expectant couples/partners, and includes tips on incorporating labor preparation into prenatal yoga classes. This is a wonderful way for prenatal teachers to enrich their teaching and expand their offerings to students as they reach the later weeks of pregnancy.
PrerequisiteCertified Prenatal Teacher.
About the TrainerBeth Donnelly Cabán is an Integral Yoga certified instructor (hatha yoga, meditation,
therapeutic yoga, prenatal, postpartum and labor Yoga).
She has been teaching prenatal
yoga since 1998, co-teaching in the IYI Prenatal Teacher training program and attending
births since 2001.
She is also certified as a midwisfe assistant (The Farm), a labor support
doula (DONA), and a childbirth educator (CEA/MNY). Beth has trained with Janet
Balaskas and Michel Odent at the Active Birth Centre in London, and holds a B.A. from
Johns Hopkins University in cultural anthropology and public health.
She lives in
Brooklyn, NY with her husband and son.
This training helps prenatal teachers learn how to help students prepare for labor and delivery using many of the tools and techniques of Hatha yoga.
A comprehensive understanding of the anatomy and physiological process will ground teachers in the dynamics of labor.
